New stories come to light

By Maria Gregoriou

If you are a film maker and would love to give your work some exposure or if you know someone who has made a film then you may want to answer to the open call for the 13th Cyprus Film Days – International Film Festival by February 13.

The open call, from the Ministry of Education and the Rialto Theatre in Limassol, is for the international competition section of the festival entitled Glocal Images and it invites filmmakers from around the world to submit their fictional films. These films should concentrate on the diversity of local cultures and be innovative when it comes to representing such matters to an international audience.

The submitted films will be viewed and selected to be judged by the festival’s artistic committee, who are Dr. Costas Constandinides, director and producer, Tonia Misiali, and Stelana Kliris, who is also a director and producer.

This year’s festival will take place from April 17 to 26 in Nicosia and in Limassol, just like it has for the past 12 years.

Each year the festival aims at attracting both industry and audiences from abroad by developing itself as a cinematic meeting point for the three continents surrounding Cyprus.

The Festival aims not only to broaden its appeal within its own borders but to attract both industry and audiences from abroad by developing itself as a cinematic meeting point for the three continents surrounding Cyprus.

The international jury will judge the films to be given an award for best film, which will also receive €6,000, a special jury award together with €3,000, and an award for best director together with €1,000.
