Officer injured during drugs arrest

A police officer was slightly injured on Wednesday after he was pushed by a suspect who was being arrested for possession of drugs in Paphos.

The officer was part of a patrol which stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Wednesday evening.

The driver, a Georgian with a Greek id, was found in possession of what is understood to be a hand-rolled cigarette containing cannabis.

During the arrest, the suspect pushed the officer who injured his thumb, police said.

He was treated in hospital and then discharged.
