Around 30 companies to accompany President on Bahrain visit

Approximately 30 companies from Cyprus will accompany President Nicos Anastasiades, during his state visit to Bahrain, on January 27-29 when will take part at a business forum, at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Anastasiades is expected to address the forum on January 28.

Marios Tsiakkis, general-secretary of the Cyprus Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) told the Cyprus News Agency that 27 Cypriot companies expressed an interest so far in joining the delegation.

Apart from the forum, KEVE is also organising business-to-business meetings with local companies.

“During the visit, we will try to attract investment and inform our counterparts on existing projects, privatizations and energy,” Tsiakkis said.

He noted that companies included in the delegation range from financial institutions to, contracting companies, to legal and audit firms.
Tsiakkis said Cyprus-Bahraini trade was currently low and focused mainly on industrial exports to Bahrain and the import of oil products. The visit aimed at expanding the range of potential business cooperation, he said. (CNA)
