Jewellery theft stopped

BURGLARS tried to rob a jewellery store in Larnaca by drilling a hole in the wall of the shop next door, police said.

According to the police report, at around 11pm on Tuesday, Larnaca police received a call from a citizen who reported that a burglary might be in progress at a jewellery store in Athinon street.

Officers who responded to the call found no trace of forced entry but upon further examination found signs of drilling on the wall on an adjacent store.

The store has been closed for some time, according to the report.

The owner of the jewellery store told police that nothing was stolen.
