Nicosia and Kiev develop closer cultural ties

A cultural cooperation programme was signed on Tuesday between Education Minister Costas Kadis and the Ambassador of Ukraine in Cyprus Borys Humeniuk, on behalf of Ukraine`s Ministry of Culture.

The programme for the 2014-2018 period was signed on the basis of a bilateral agreement, signed in 2010.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Kadis spoke of them “excellent level of relations” between the two countries, which is expected to become broader through cultural cooperation.

Kadis said the programme covered a series of cultural events in arts, music, theatre, as well as cultural exchanges.
The Ukrainian Ambassador expressed gratitude to the government and the people of Cyprus for their consistent support of Ukraine`s territorial integrity and its EU aspirations.

He also said the cultural cooperation programme was “another important brick in the bridge of our traditionally good historic, spiritual, diplomatic and political relations”.

The ceremony was also attended by officials and representatives from the ministry of education, the ministry of foreign affairs and the embassy of Ukraine. (CNA)
