Bar review: Haris Restaurant and Bar, Paphos

By Bejay Browne

If you’re looking for a night spot to visit in the west of the island, Haris Restaurant and Bar in Peyia is highly recommended.

Set in the heart of Peyia, this friendly bar and restaurant has been run by Savvas and his team for the last three years. He took over the venture from his father who had been running it for 35 years previously.

Savvas has breathed new life into Haris bar and has incorporated many changes, including the creation of a stylish outside bar, which has proved extremely popular during the warmer months.

The staff are all friendly, efficient and polite and Haris offers value for money with a welcoming atmosphere. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available and a range of food from international to traditional Cypriot, including a delicious meze.

During the day, this is a great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch – their full English breakfast is very popular and is a reasonable €4.20 – and Haris also serves a good Sunday lunch – from €7.90 – booking for which is advised.

The venue also boasts a fantastic swimming pool surrounded by grass with a smattering of sunbeds free for guests to use and a great place to cool off during the summer. The pool is a popular with both locals and holidaymakers, but doesn’t become crowded.

The venue is buzzing during the evening and a regular haunt of many locals and returning holidaymakers. Haris is also a live music venue and offers all sorts of music including solo performers and bands.

Major sporting events are screened and there is a pool table to keep guests entertained.

This is a family friendly venue and a great place to meet up with friends while local businessmen often hold extended ‘meetings’ here.

Drinks are value for money. A pint of house beer will set you back €1.50, cocktails start at a reasonable €3.50 and a carafe of wine is €8. Breakfast is served from 8am and the venue is open all day every day.

Haris is clean, modern and hospitable and best described as an upmarket café. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s value for money, relaxing and a good place to while away the time – you could very well spend all day here – this venue comes highly recommended.
