Dangerous trees to be cut down on Kyriakos Matsis

Nicosia Municipality said on Wednesday that it had secured permission from the state to remove eight sick and dangerous trees from Kyriacos Matsis street.

They would be replaced with Cypress or Pine trees, the municipality said.

“The decision was the result of on-site visits and an exchange views with all relevant departments and agencies of the state,” a statement said.

“The removal of trees was necessary and urgent because due to irreversible ill health they have become vulnerable to falling or breaking branches and therefore dangerous to the safety of passing drivers and pedestrians.”
