More mountain roads closed as bad weather continues

Continuing snowfall on Friday morning led to many roads in the mountains being closed to all drivers except those with snow chains or four wheel drive.

In addition to the snow, mist in low lying areas of the mountains led to poor visibility on the roads.

All roads leading to Troodos were closed in addition to: Pedoulas-Prodromos, Prodromos-Platres, Prodromos-Moutaoullas, Prodromos-Lemithou, Paliomilou-Lemithou, Pedoulas-Kykkos, Kakopetria-Karvouna, Kakopetria-Pinewood-Pedoulas, Kyperounta-Agros, Palaichori-Agros, Kalo Chorio-Ayios Ioannis-Agros, Moniatis-Platres.

Drivers are being urged to drive at low speeds and keep a safe distance from the car in front, with headlights on.

Rain, localised storms and snow are expected to continue throughout the day. Winds will reach 3-4Bf, while temperatures will rise to 13C inland, 15C on the coast and 3C in the mountains.

Rainfall will continue overnight with a light dusting of snow in the mountains.

Rain, storms and snow are set to continue over the weekend although the temperature will see a slight increase.
