Services, manufacturing help February economic sentiment improve, University of Cyprus says

By Stelios Orphanides

Economic sentiment improved in February compared with the previous month, boosted by rising confidence in services and manufacturing, even as recession continues to plague the economy, the University of Cyprus said.

Improved sentiment in services resulted mainly from more optimistic demand expectations in the next three months and a better evaluation by interviewed companies of their respective financial situation during the last three months, the Economics Research Centre of the university said in an emailed statement on Wednesday. “In manufacturing, improved sentiment is related to less negative evaluation of the current order book”.
