Bar review: Robin Hood pub, Paphos

By Bejay Browne

If you’re looking for somewhere to go in Paphos where you can let your hair down and enjoy a great atmosphere, Robin Hood pub on Bar Street is worth a visit.

You can’t miss it, as the venue is built in the style of a mediaeval castle inside and out. Exterior doors open to create a sort of outdoor seating area which is popular in the warmer months and families are welcome.

If it’s fun you’re after and a dancefloor to shake your stuff on, a wide range of music and reasonably priced drinks; this well-established bar fits the bill.

Ayiou AntoniouStreet – Bar Street – in Kato Paphos is rather a sorry looking place by day and night, with many properties lying empty and in desperate need of a facelift. But there are a handful of venues, including Robin Hood that are doing their best to keep attracting customers and offering value for money, good service and a fun night out.

This venue is open all year long and is popular with both locals and tourists. There is ample parking close by and if you’re drinking there is also a taxi rank. Close to the seafront and numerous restaurants and cafés, Robin Hood is a good place to visit later in the evening when the party’s in full swing. But if you prefer a less rowdy atmosphere, you should visit earlier as its open from 7pm.

The venue’s owner is a popular local figure and has been campaigning for years to try and improve bar street. Robin Hood has become a stalwart of the area and its striking décor and corner position make it difficult to miss.

Extras are often thrown in such rounds of free shots. The staff are friendly and make visitors feel welcome and many holiday makers visit year after year. The drinks are reasonably priced and the cocktails are well made – the house ‘Robin Hood’ cocktail is popular, as are the margaritas.

This venue is the first choice for many groups celebrating, including hen and stag nights, birthday celebrations and office parties. As it’s currently carnival season, patrons are being encouraged to dress up and get into the spirit of the season.

Robin Hood offers an energetic atmosphere, a mixed crowd, all sorts of music, friendly staff and a great space to let loose.
