The Electrical and Mechanical services said on Thursday they had identified a dangerous e-cigaretteon the market and warned consumers not to use it.
The product did not comply with the essential safety requirements of the Directive on Electrical Equipment Low Voltage (LVD) “as encompassing substantive and serious safety risks to the user”. “Therefore, it has ordered its withdrawal from the market,” it said.
The product, which includes charger, adapter and battery, has the trade name Nobaccom type: QRT-288 imported by Mirtamo Enterprises Ltd
The charger is a fire hazard, the services said. There have been reports of some e-cigarettes batteries exploding and causing burns to users.
