Dancing, street style

By Maria Gregoriou

Do you like wearing your baseball cap back to front while spinning around on the floor as fast as you can? Well, if you do, or if you like to hip-hop your Sunday away with some great beats, then tomorrow you should have the time of your life at the ninth Hip-Hop summit in Limassol.

If you decide to do a bit of street dancing, a bit of break dancing or just move your body to the rhythm you won’t be judged on it – but those taking part in what is considered to be the biggest dancing battle of its kind in Cyprus certainly will.

The event, which will take place at the Tsirio Gymnasium in Ayia Fyla, will start at 4pm and when it ends will depend on how tough the judges’ decision will be on the hip hop dancers from all over the island, battling it out for the title of the best.

Talking about judges, those in charge of making a decision will be world-known dancers Bboy Marcio from France, Bboy Effectos from Bulgaria, Rudi Smit from South Africa and Annabelle Da Fonte from Berlin.

And what would dance be without music, only half of a craft some would say. So, to complete the scene, DJ HatimFunky from the UK will be behind the music, giving the dancers something to move to.

All those competing will also get the chance to take part in the Street dance and Break dance workshops to be given by the judges.
