Musicians Itamar Erez and Yshai Afterman from Israel will be in Cyprus this week to pass on their passion for music in combined concerts and solo workshops.
Percussionist Afterman will give two workshops in Limassol on Saturday and two in Nicosia on Sunday, while guitarist Erez will teach participants how to strum their guitars in Nicosia on Sunday during two workshops.
Afterman draws on Indian, Turkish, Persian and Arabic traditions to form a modern, melodic and rhythmic style. Erez’s music combines to sound of the Middle East, the melodies of jazz music, and the passion that can be found in Flamenco.
Afterman will give a frame drum workshop for all levels from 10am until 11.30am on both days and from 12pm until 1.30pm, the workshop will concentrate on rhythmic improvisation and composition for all instrumentalist and composers.
Guitarists, or musicians who would like to learn more about how to handle the instrument, may prefer to learn with Erez, who will teach finger-style guitar techniques from 10am until 11.30am on Sunday.
