Hellenic sells share for charity

MORE THAN €19,000 raised from the sale of fractions of Hellenic Bank shares was donated by its board of directors to charity, the bank announced on Monday.

Instead of distributing the earnings to the shareholders, it was decided at an Extraordinary General Meeting held last month to donate the entire amount to a local charity, the bank said.

Part of the amount will be given to the “Stella Soulioti” Children’s Therapy Centre in Limassol and the remaining for the construction of a kitchen at the Nicosia Branch of the Cyprus Red Cross.

The kitchen will provide daily meals to low income citizens who need support because of the current economic crisis, the announcement said.
