Egyptian sailor killed by truck 

A 40-year-old Egyptian man was killed late Thursday afternoon after he was hit by a truck on the Vasiliko to Zygi road in the Larnaca district.

Police said the incident happened at 7.10pm. The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Syrian man, headed to Zygi from Vasiliko, said he hit two individuals walking on the side of the road.

The two were sailors serving on a ship anchored at Vasiliko. The second man suffered shock and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver was tested for alcohol with negative results, police said.
