Almost 10,000 people are expected to participate in the 9th International Limassol – GSO Marathon along the town’s coastal road on March 29.

The oldest registered runner is 76 and the youngest six, with athletes coming from 50 different countries including Australia, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, USA, Japan and other European countries.

Event organisers say they are 90 per cent ready for the big event and are still open for volunteers that are the “backbone of the organisation”. Approximately 700 volunteers are involved in the staging of the event.

The 42,195-metre marathon will start at 9am at the Limassol pier. It will also feature five additional races – the Half-Marathon, the 10-kilometre Health Race, the 5-kilometre City Race, the PrimeTel 5-kilometre Corporate Race, and the McDonald’s 1-kilometre Kids Race.
