An unknown individual managed to steal €10,000 from the bank account of a 49-year-old accountant by using a false identity card and forging his signature, police said.
According to the report, following the first theft the man tried to steal another €7,000 from a different Limassol branch using the same identity card but failed.
The 49-year-old’s account was frozen and the bank employees’ tried to stall the suspect for police but he realised what was going on and left.
According to the police report, the suspect was already wanted for a similar scam he pulled on February, when he stole €7,000 using the same method.
The suspect is described by police as thin, 1.75 metres tall and around 45-50 years of age. Police have released CCTV footage of the suspect and are calling on the public to contact them if they can identify him.
