Predicting a revolution

By Maria Gregoriou

Many artists have gone beyond the norms of their arts, broken boundaries and forms, and brought a modern feel to what has come before.

This is what the performance of Opera in Revolution is bound to do on Friday in Larnaca, as opera and break dance will take to the stage together.

The original performance from the Crossing Lines Company, will feature an all female cast of artists who will stand together and bring to life choreographies inspired by the magical soprano voice on stage.

Choreographer and dancer Nefeli Tsiouti will be doing the break-dancing and pushing the limits of what dance and classical music should look like together, while Anoki von Arx (whose voice motivated the dancing steps) will cover the opera part of the evening while live music will be provided by Annini Tsiouti on the piano and Iro Michael on the clarinet.

So if you want to be part of the revolution, or if you are intrigued to see how opera and break-dance can possibly be combined together, all will be revealed at the Larnaca Municipal Theatre on Friday.

Opera in Revolution
