Police officer arrested on suspicion of burglary

A police officer was arrested in the early hours of Thursday near Mandria village in Paphos, walking around in the area wearing a ski mask and carrying burglary tools, according to police spokesman Andreas Angelides.

According to the report, police received a complaint from a resident at around 1am saying that a suspicious looking car was parked in the area. Police officers who went to follow up on the information discovered that the car’s licence plates were smudged with mud.

The suspect was found shortly after, wearing a ski mask and holding a lath hammer, and turned out to be a police officer.

According to Angelides, the suspect claimed that he was in the area to investigate a drug case.
