Warehouse destroyed by fire

A warehouse in Avgorou in the Famagusta district was completely burned to the ground in the early hours of Wednesday.

The blaze also damaged part of the adjacent house.

According to the fire services the fire broke out just after midnight in the warehouse, and spread to the adjacent house.  No one was injured. The occupants of the house alerted the fire department and left the home.

A fire service spokesman said they received the call at 12.05am and were on the scene by 12.15am. The fire was brought under control by 12.45am, he said.

Two bedroom windows on the adjacent home were also destroyed.

At dawn fire investigators and members of the electrical and mechanical services department started their investigation into the cause of the blaze.
