No power cuts during Easter

Prospects of privatisation of some of EAC's services could lead to further trade union strikes

The state electricity company (EAC) announced on Thursday that during Easter it would not be cutting power to households that failed to pay their bills.

The decision concerns the period between April 2 and 17 and applies to all domestic tariffs, 05, 06, 07, 08.

Households, which had their power cut off can apply to have it reconnected at local EAC centres and make arrangements to pay their outstanding bill, the company said.

Clients who had their power cut off because of bankruptcy or electricity theft are not included in this arrangement.

They should follow the usual procedure for such cases, the EAC said.
