An open society needs people with open faces

It takes more brave and honest initiative from people who want to make a contribution to changing this island for the better.

A good start would be to abandon the defensive veil that almost everyone uses to conceal their identity by posing behind pseudonyms when making comments in the public.

An open society needs people with open faces. When making intelligent suggestions, they carry much more weight when made by people who are ready to defend them personally and not by a “cloaked and armoured dark knight”.

Some years ago I was told by my fellow men (and maybe women, who knows) whom I meet in on the Cyprus Mail forum that the risk of retaliatory actions from people in power is too real to come out in the open. I see no alternative to change this than to challenge such power.
