All that Jazz

By Maria Gregoriou

International Jazz day is coming up on Thursday, and The European Capital of Culture Pafos 2017 is putting on a jazz concert to honour the day in style.

In almost all corners of the globe on this day, artists, communities, schools and jazz enthusiasts celebrate and get to know all about the music style. But finding out about its roots, the impact it has on society, and where it could lead us in the future, are not the only factors that fit into the equation of the day, as jazz has a multicultural sound, it also helps to raise awareness of the need for intercultural dialogue, co-operation and communication.

Paphos will be sharing in the celebrations and setting a scene where we can all come together to chill out, relax and enjoy an evening of music by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, John Kander, Scott Joplin, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Parker and other jazz greats.

The jazzy music will be brought to life by Yiannis Hadjiloizou on the piano and singers Aliki Chrysochou and Yiannis Ioannou.
