Animal Party now an official political party

Starving dog, Animal Party was established after a series of widely publicised animal cruelty cases

THE ANIMAL Party of Cyprus (APC) is now officially a political party, after a request filed with the interior ministry was approved on Monday.

A party delegation, headed by party leader Kyriakos Kyriakou, will be visiting the interior ministry on Tuesday to receive the official party registration certificate.

In a press release issued on Monday, the Animal Party welcomed the interior ministry approval. Party officials promised to present the party’s actions in a future press conference.

The APC was founded in April 27, 2014, following a string of widely reported animal abuse cases, including a dog shelter that let its dogs starve to death, a man tying his dog to his car and dragging it through the streets of Limassol and a dog found shot by a hunter.
