Unemployment declines in April year-on-year

Unemployment in April marked the sharpest month-on-month decline since April 2014, falling to its lowest since the March 2013 banking crisis that rocked the country’s economy, the Cyprus Statistical Service announced on Wednesday.

According to a Cystat report, the number of the unemployed in Cyprus fell in April to 42,551, compared with 47,833 the previous month.

In terms of actual data – meaning in absolute numbers – this is the lowest number recorded since December 2012, which 41,625 unemployed.
