Female fan banned from football

A 24-year-old woman has been banned from attending her team’s football games after she was arrested for hurling a firecracker at a car following a match on Saturday.

The woman was arrested after championship fixture between Nicosia rivals APOEL and Omonia, which finished 3-2. She is understood to be an Omonia fan.

On Wednesday, she appeared before a court, which adjourned until June 2. In the meantime, she was banned from stadiums on the day and time her team plays.

She posted a €5,000 bail and was ordered to report to Lakatamia police station every Monday and Thursday between 4pm and 6pm.
