Recycling awareness campaign launched in Ayios Athanasios

Packages containing information on the need and benefits of recycling were distributed to about 600 households, students and organised groups in the Ayios Athanasios municipality, in cooperation with GreenDot Cyprus and other partners.

Mayor of Ayios Athanasios, Kyriacos Hadjittofis, pointed out the importance of the campaign, titled “Contributing to recycling! Reducing the volume of waste! Protecting the environment!”.

He noted that recycling and proper management of waste were more necessary today in Cyprus than ever. He added that the 600 packages distributed to households in the municipality contained informative material on recycling and composting, GreenDot’s programme for collecting recyclable materials from the municipality, and bags for recycling various materials.

In statements to CNA, Commercial Director of GreenDot Cyprus, Sakis Theodosiou, expressed satisfaction regarding the initiatives undertaken by the Ayios Athanasios municipality, which, he noted, was one of the first partners of the company. He added that the participation of Ayios Athanasios citizens in recycling issues has significantly increased. (CNA)
