Finance ministry working on hydrocarbon fund

The finance ministry is looking into the creation of an investment fund that will administer the revenues from Cyprus’ hydrocarbons in a transparent and reliable way, it was announced on Monday.

According to an official announcement, the matter was discussed during a meeting between Finance Minister Harris Georgiades and the Energy Strategy Council.

Georgiades said the ministry was working on two important energy matters: preparing for the administration of proceeds from hydrocarbon reserves, and investment in the wider energy sector.

The ministry is already processing the creation of an investment fund that will handle the proceeds in a reliable and transparent way, Georgiades said.
