In the mix

By Maria Gregoriou

If you haven’t heard any of the tracks of the album Imam Baildi III – by the band of the same name – then this time next Sunday, the Ammos Beach Bar at Makenzy Beach in Larnaca will be expecting you for some spicy musical dishes, served up with a side of dancing.

For those of you who are familiar with the band’s three albums, the band’s story and the people behind it, you will know that the band prides itself on playing music which is firmly rooted in the Greek music scene, but it also has a twist.

The band was formed by the Falireas brothers – Orestis and Lysandros. As its name suggests, it mixes up different tastes to create one harmonious beat.

The boys took the unique sound of rembetiko, mixed it with some hip-hop sounds, added a bit of drumming and bass playing, an MC and a female voice and voila, there you have it – a team of musicians who have topped the European World Music Charts.

Get ready to be on your feet because the beat will surely make you want to dance.
