Fourth arrest after cannabis seizure

Police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the seizure of around 28kg of cannabis last week.

The 37-year-old was remanded in custody for five days on Tuesday.

Last Friday, police arrested two brothers, 30 and 33, and the latter’s wife, 31, all from Limassol following a drug squad operation in Souni, Limassol. The 33-year-old is a police officer at the British bases.

A police officer was injured during the operation, after the 30-year-old crashed his car into two police vehicles in a bid to escape.

The incident took place outside his brother’s house.

A search of the suspect’s car found five large cardboard boxes containing around 26kg of cannabis, 860g of cannabis resin, and 1.1kg of methamphetamines.

Officers then searched the house with the wife’s permission, finding close to half a kilo of cannabis and a precision scale.
