Police raid illegal currency exchange outlet

Paralimni police said they found over €26,000 in a local store after a tip off it was illegally carrying out foreign exchange transactions.

The 48-year-old owner admitted he operated the exchange shop without permission from the Central Bank after police found €26,809, 75 Turkish lira, 100 British pounds, a cash-counting machine and several posters advertising currency exchange.

He was charged in writing while Paralimni police continue investigations.
