The whole world is a canvas

By Maria Gregoriou

This week sees the continuation of exhibitions and the opening of others as the hot weather seems to have us venturing out a lot more.

Spyros Demetriades’ latest Giclee prints (fine art digital printing made on inkjet printers) collection as well as his new works in oil under the title A Town Revisited in Vibrant Nostalgia are still on show at the Lellos ART point gallery in Limassol.

With this exhibition Demetriades aims to introduce this contemporary process of affordable, refined fine art prints to the Cypriot market.

The artist takes us on a walk of Limassol through his art work, showing the town’s culture and colours, while reflecting a feeling of nostalgia.

While Demetriades shows Limassol, Evi Haraki Mahera will showcase her latest work under the title GOD/DESS Created Life as of tomorrow.

Mahera focuses on the invisible source which creates life, as well as the ancient human effort to decode the mystery. With these elements as the cornerstones of her work, the artist brings us face to face with what makes us human, that of being.

The last exhibition that we suggest looks at man’s best friend. Photographer Elena Tassy will present portraits which – apart from having an aesthetic purpose – have a message to share.

Tassy will share a collection of dog portraits with us under the name Adopt Don’t Buy. These puppy eyes and adorable faces captured on film will be used to inform about abandoned dogs that can be adopted from various shelters.

At the exhibition you will be able to buy a photographic booklet and the proceeds will go to the Protecting Animals Without Shelter associational.
