State gynaecologist arrested after complaint of indecent assault

Police have arrested a 56-year-old public sector gynaecologist on suspicion of indecently assaulting two patients in Limassol.

The doctor was initially reported to police by a 29-year-old patient. He was arrested and charged in writing before he was released, police said.

But a second patient, 21, complained that she had been fondled by the doctor during her examination. The woman also said that he had used obscene language.

Police said he was arrested anew after the second complaint. The doctor denies the women’s claims.
