A jazzy guitar

Next Sunday the Open Air Factory together with the European Capital of Culture – Paphos 2017 will present the great international virtuoso guitarist and musician Al Di Meola and his quartet.

For over 40 years the American jazz fusion and Latin jazz guitarist, composer and record producer has mastered the art of jazzing up the guitar.

If you didn’t think that was impressive then maybe the fact that Meolo has recorded 20 albums as the lead guitarist while also collaborating on dozens more, the fact that he is internationally recognised as a virtuoso of the highest order, and the fact that he has become one of the most influential guitarists in jazz to date might just give you an idea of how big he is in the music world.

As Meola has been just such an influence for generations of music makers, his example and work have managed to bridge musical cultures both with his collaborations with soloist and bands, and with the musical styles and performances that others have given as a result of being inspired by the guitarist.
