Two arrested in Ayia Napa for drunk driving

Two men were arrested in Ayia Napa early Monday for drunk driving and for assaulting a police officer.

The 22-year-old driver and his 17-year-old passenger shouted abuse and pushed an officer when their car was stopped.

Both of the young men, who permanently reside in Limassol, were driving on Ayias Mavris road in Ayia Napa in a dangerous manner according to the police, and were under the influence of alcohol. One of the two was also found with half a gramme of cannabis, police said, while an alcohol test showed the driver had 51 milligrams as opposed to the permitted 22.
