Marine police on Wednesday evening rescued a kite surfer in distress in the sea off Limassol.

Police said they were notified at 7.40pm that a kite surfer had fallen into the sea and was carried away by the wind.

A police petrol boat was dispatched to the area and 10 minutes later it located the man 1.5 nautical miles north of the Limassol sailing club.

The man, a foreign national, appeared to be in good health and declined being taken to hospital.
