Paphos castle to get its sparkle back

BURNT out lights at the historic castle in Kato Paphos will be replaced in the coming days to ensure the exterior is highlighted at night time, according to authorities.

On Monday night, the council voted in favour of replacing a number of lighting features which are not working for a variety of reasons, including general wear and tear.

Initial estimates had put the cost at 20,000 euros, but can actually be undertaken for 2,500 said Paphos councillor, Andreas Chrysanthou.

“We approved the amount as some of the lighting features are burnt and not working properly.”

He said the area is an important one, as many tourists and locals enjoy visiting the castle and the harbour. He said that recently, only some of the lights have been working and that the castle needs to be properly lit.

Damage to cable, lights and bulbs will be sorted out in the next few days and the castle will once again be suitably lit up, he said.
