A minute with Georgia Kombou Bouzouki, mandolin, laouto and tzoura soloist

Where do you live?
I live in Limassol with my family… husband and my two children 14 and 17.

Best childhood memory?
My first prize in drawing at the European Competition, I got 3rd prize.

Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish? What food would you really turn your nose up to?
I like Italian cuisine and my favorite dish is pasta. I don’t like to eat meat very often, I was a vegetarian for 20 years but the last 3 months I started eating meat.

What did you have for breakfast?
Oats with almonds, banana, and rice milk and 1 spoon of honey.

Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
I am a day person, but I like reading during the night. I like going for a walk to the beach, or going out for food with good friends.

Best book ever read?
The Power of Faith. It was written by me and it’s a real story about the health problem my 14-year-old daughter is facing. I like this book because it sends a message for all the children suffering from diabetes; that they have the right to fight for this disease and they have the right to be strong.

Favourite film of all time?
I am not a TV fan because I prefer to read a book or play my bouzouki mostly.

Favourite holiday destination? What’s your dream trip?
I like Athens because I go very often for concerts and most of my friends live there. My dream trip is the US because there you have a lot of opportunities.

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
I mostly listen to Greek traditional music with bouzouki and I like mandolin music.

What is always in your fridge?
Cheese and yogurt and fruits

Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
Ι would like a rural retreat in the mountains… fresh air, trees, and the wonderful colours of nature.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
I would like to go out with Marios Tokas, the famous composer from Limassol who died, because I admire his music a lot.

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
I would compose my last song.

What is your greatest fear?
Diseases and especially for the children.
