Social media call for Nicosia demo to support ‘no’ vote in Greece

A call went out on Wednesday on social media  by the Citizens Platform for a rally to be held tonight outside the finance ministry and from there the Greek embassy in support of a ‘no’ vote in Sunday’s referendum in Greece.

The Facebook call said: “We urge all the people of Cyprus to support the suffering people of Greece and rally on Wednesday, July 1 at 7.30pm. We stand beside our brother Greeks at this truly critical time, and declare the struggle to end the austerity and the occupation that the country is experiencing. Greece and Cyprus have to stand together for self respect and dignity”.

It added that it was time to finally respond “to the blackmail of the IMF and of prospective new colonialists.”
