Man remanded after reported for indecent assault on minor in Paphos

A 38-year-old man was arrested at a Paphos hotel on Sunday after a girl, aged 10, told her parents he had sexually harassed her in a swimming pool.

He was remanded for eight days by the court on Monday and is facing charges of indecent assault.

According to Paphos police chief Nicos Tsiapis, two families from different parts of the island met at the hotel where they were holidaying and began to spend time together.

While the 10-year-old was playing in the pool, reportedly with the minor daughters of the 38-year-old, he joined them, getting closer to the young child when the other girls had moved off to swim.

Although details are sparse, Tsiapis said the girl managed to react despite her shock after he started touching her inappropriately and called on her parents for help, running out the pool. Her parents called police who arrested him after getting statements.
