Cypriot 90s rock band To Marazi Tis Fotoulas (Fotoula’s Woes), made a comeback last year, bringing their music into the 21st century and they are back again for a live performance on Saturday in Limassol.
The five piece band – Pan Meraklis on vocals and electrical guitar, Mike Zaxariadis on bass, Spyros Kyriakidis on drums, Andros Kyriakou on electric guitar and Marianna Kofterou on vocals – will show that experience is one factor in a musical equation that provides a very positive outcome.
The band’s first professional gig was in December 1990 at the old New Division pub in Ayios Andreas. Then, and now, the band’s songs deal with everyday subjects, such as work and love.
As for the group’s name, Fotoula also means light, as band member Meraklis explains “it’s about looking towards the light and finding other ways of seeing things.”
So join the band in their quest to see things differently and transform woes into light on Saturday.
