Booked driver runs over policeman’s foot

A 24-year-old from Nicosia drove over the foot of a policeman causing bruising and swelling of his toes on Sunday.

According to the police, the driver, who was accompanied by two passengers, was stopped for speeding at around 6pm in Larnaca.

When the officer was handing over the ticket to the driver, she snatched it from him and started to leave, driving over his left foot. The policeman fell and the driver, without stopping to help him, fled at high speed.

Colleagues brought the officer to the emergency department at the Larnaca General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The driver of the car later brought in by police and charged in writing before being released.
