Hala Sultan Mosque closed to visitors on Tuesday due to pilgrimage

The Tekke at Larnaca salt lake

The Department of Antiquities said on Monday that an organised visit of a large number of Turkish Cypriot pilgrims to the Mosque of Hala Sultan in Larnaca on Tuesday was expected to exceed the maximum capacity of the Mosque.

As a result the mosque would not be accessible to visitors on Tuesday from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm, it said.

Around 1,000 Turkish Cypriots are expected to cross for the pilgrimage to mark the end of Ramadan.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused [to other visitors],” the department said.
