Wanted man arrested four months later

Paphos police on Friday arrested a 30-year-old man sought since April after officers found cocaine in his car.

The incident happened on April 4 at midnight after police spotted a vehicle whose driver had no insurance.

They signalled the driver to stop but instead, he accelerated in a bid to evade the police patrol.

Driving recklessly, the man crashed his car head-on into another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Despite the collision, he drove away until he came to a stop at a dead end where he abandoned his car and fled on foot.

Inside the vehicle, officers found around one gramme of cocaine and a knife with a 19-centimetre blade.

Police issued an arrest warrant and managed to locate the suspect on Friday.

The female driver of the other car involved in the collision was taken to hospital and discharged later after she was given the all clear.
