Lebanese teen dies after moped crash

A 17-year-old Lebanese tourist has died from injuries sustained in a moped crash in Ayia Napa last week.

The teenager died in Nicosia general hospital where he was being treated for head injuries sustained in the 5am incident, which saw him thrown off a mope driven by a compatriot, also 17.

The Cyprus News Agency said the driver lost control of the moped, hit a pothole and then the pavement.The driver was treated in Famagusta general hospital and discharged.

The passenger was rushed to Nicosia due to the severity of his injuries.

The two teens had not been wearing crash helmets, police said.
