A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded early on Wednesday in the sea area off Paphos, the island’s geological survey department said.

The epicentre was the area 120 kilometres north-west of Polis Chrysohous, at a depth of five kilometres.

It was felt by a small number of people in Paphos and Nicosia, reports said.

Smaller aftershocks have been recorded in the same area, the department said. The biggest measures 4.3 and was recorded 40 minutes later.
