Troika gets tough on EAC privatisation in latest programme review

The troika of the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund is insisting on the privatisation of power producer Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the adherence to the timetable for privatisations, part of Cyprus’s bailout terms, in order to improve economic efficiency and generate funds to reduce public debt and speed up structural reforms.
