Elderly man found dead in field in Episkopi

Police said on Sundy they did not suspect foul play in the death of an elderly man whose body was found in a field at Episkopi in Limassol late on Saturday.

The body of Lefkos Drakou, 82, was found in the field by his son around 10.30pm on Saturday night. He had gone looking for his father when the pensioner had failed to return home from working on his farm.

Some 15 metres away from the body, Drakou’s tractor was still running. Police suspect he was injured from a fall as there were indications of head trauma . The Cyprus News Agency reported that British bases police, under whose jurisdiction the area comes, did not suspect foul play.

A post mortem on Monday will determine the exact cause of death, the CNA said.
