Poacher arrested and charged in Famagusta area

A bird stuck on a limestick

Members of the Famagusta police anti-poaching unit said they caught a 61-year-old from the Famagusta district hunting wild birds with the use of limesticks early on Sunday.
The man was caught red-handed at around 6.45am, police said, adding that they also found in his possession an illegal audio device to lure the birds. They confiscated the device and 49 limesticks.
The man was charged in writing at the police station in Paralimni to be summoned to court at a later date.
