ETYK takes labour action at Hellenic, as the bank enters talks with EBRD (Updated)

Bank workers union ETYK called its members to “reverently” refrain from working overtime from Hellenic Bank, as the bank entered talks with the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development which is interested in buying a stake in the Cypriot lender.

The union, which decades ago secured a say the practices for the recruitment of managers at Cypriot banks based on an agreement with the Cyprus Bankers Employers’ Association, is angered by the Hellenic’s decision to appoint managers without consulting the union, ETYK said.
